Comics and Design
I’m generally available to do freelance non-fiction comics projects as well as print graphic design.
My main comics project is The Cartoon Picayune, an anthology of comics journalism, which I edit and also contribute stories to. I report these stories like any other journalist, write a script, draw the art, and complete all the postproduction. These stories vary in length but can take months to complete.
I enjoy creating short pieces for newspapers, magazines, and online publications. Here’s an example from the Valley News, the local newspaper of White River Junction, VT. Comics journalism is a flexible medium that can really make a story come alive for local readers. It’s a hard concept to describe, but everyone immediately understands what they’re looking at when they see one of my stories.
Finally, I enjoy practicing graphic design. It’s symbiotic with comics and journalism, and essential to making most visual things work. I have some education in the field and I’ve multiple design internships including at The Atlantic.
I’m just out of school and looking to begin a freelance career while I improve my craft. My rates are extremely reasonable, and I have little difficulty working with most nice people. Please use the form below if you’d like to talk about a potential project.
